About Me

No, I’m not one of those writers who claim they’ve always wanted to write since they were old enough to hold a pencil. Although I did pen what my teacher called a ‘wonderful story’ about lumberjacks when I was eight. I’m actually a psychology major who had every intention of becoming a children’s counselor, but somehow got sidetracked along the way. Just after I graduated I started writing fiction and knew I wanted to make my living from anything related to writing. I ended up working in PR, mostly for non-profits, and spent three years as a publicist before I decided to become a freelance writer.

I’ve written for a wide array of publications, custom, trade and consumer. Publications such as Psychology Today, Health, Arthritis Today and American Profile. I specialize in food, green, health/wellness, and money saving topics. And also company/people profiles. I’ve interviewed some very interesting people over the years. A lady who played the piano for silent movies, the Dalai Lama’s doctor, Spencer Bergland…John Travolta’s young co-star in Ladder 49, and a woman who was shot three times and left for dead.

I also run the Web site, The Budget Smart Girl’s Guide to the Universe…a little shameless self-promotion here, if you want to check it out here’s the link http://budgetsmartgirl.com

Yes, I still write fiction. I won the Loft Children’s Literature Award, Pockets Short Story Contest, have been the runner up in more contests than I can remember. And my short stories have appeared in publications in the US and UK, including Woman’s World. And I’m very happy to say that after many years of trying, I finally sold my first novel to Wild Rose Press which was published in December 08. My next two books, The One and Only and Death Likes Me are published with Hearts on Fire Books and Sleeping With Fairies was published Dec 09 with Lyrical Press. In 2011 Noble Romance published two historical novellas, A Thief Too Many and Her Indiscretion.
